Chrome won't let me change my default search engine back to google after it shut down unexpectedly. I've tried Malwarebytes and deleted everything that came up. All the other solutions I found online was for windows, but I have a Mac. I'd rather only reset my chrome settings as a last resort. Step 1: In the upper right corner, select More Actions.Click Settings. Step 2: Scroll down to 'Open With'. Select A specific page or pages. Step 3: Open the dropdown menu and choose Custom. If you make Chrome your default browser, any links that you click will open automatically in Chrome. Computer Android iPhone & iPad Set Chrome as your default web browser If you don't yet have.
Watch the Video: How to change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge
Today was the day. Call it laziness, call it being experimental, call it giving it a try as-is. Whatever it was is finally over. With the introduction of Windows 10, it seemed appropriate to use the default configuration that Microsoft anointed: the new operating system, coupled with the new Microsoft Edge web browser, and searching the web with Bing. Having grown tired of manually selecting or navigating to a search engine other than Bing, the time was ripe to change the default.
Microsoft recommends sticking with its own Bing search engine. There is some impact worth noting between Edge and Bing when changing the default search engine. Direct links to Windows 10 apps may not work as fast. Cortana's suggestions may not be as relevant. And Microsoft help for its software may not be as instant. Therefore, if these consequences are not deal-breakers for you, here is how to change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge.
With Microsoft Edge as your web browser of choice, search the web right from its address bar. Input your search string, noting the magnifying glass icon differentiating search from sites, then hit return.
Search results from Bing display by default.
Change the Default Search Engine
To display results from a different search engine, navigate to your preferred search engine's web site. Click the More actions icon (the one with the three dots) in the upper-right corner, then choose Settings.
Under the Settings menu, scroll down to the Advanced settings section, then click the View advanced settings button.
Scroll down to the Search in the address bar with pulldown menu, click the down arrow to the right of Bing, then click <Add new>.
A list of search providers will display. Click to highlight your preferred search engine in the list, then click the Add as default button.
Using the example above, we added Google Search as the default search engine. As a result, results from searches you conduct from the Microsoft Edge address bar will use Google.

Hey, where did my Chrome go?
Upgrading to Windows 10 using 'express settings' will automatically make Microsoft(MSFT) Edge your PC's default Web browser, even if you used a different browser when your PC was running Windows 7 or Windows 8.
You can still make Google(GOOGL) Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple(AAPL) Safari or another app your default browser in Windows 10, but it's not as easy or intuitive to do that as it was in previous versions of Windows.
Here's how to do that:
1) Click the 'Use this as my default browser' button. That will launch the Settings app, opened to the 'Choose default apps' tab.

2) Click on the Microsoft Edge logo. Picking a browser won't immediately be visible: You'll have to scroll down to where it says 'Web browser,' and click on Edge.

3) Click on the browser of your choice. You'll be prompted to choose an app. Then close the window to save your changes.
Choosing 'custom' instead of 'express' settings during the Windows 10 upgrade installation will also let you choose your default browser.
